Ludovico Einaudi is an eminent Italian pianist and music composer. At the start of his career, Einaudi only composed classical music, but later moved on to other genres like pop, rock, world music and folk music.
Ludovico Einaudi was born November 23, 1955 in Turin, Italy. He studied at the Milan Conservatory named after Giuseppe Verdi, as well as with the composer Luciano Berio.
Ludovico Einaudi is known for his soothing and mesmerizing music which has won hearts all over the world. He has composed music for films, television, commercials, and won many prizes and awards. His album ‘Waves’ in 1996 was the real turning point in his career. The album focused on circular sound and minimalist music which later became his style. In 2002, Ludovico Einaudi’s soundtrack for ‘Luce dei miei occhi’ won the best soundtrack at 2002 Italian Music Awards. Also, the same soundtrack won him the Best Film Score at an Italian award function.
His soundtrack for movie ‘Sotto falso nome’ won the Best Film Music Award at the Avignon Film Festival in 2004.
Einaudi is the recipient of ‘The Order of Merit of the Italian Republic’, a senior order of knighthood awarded for ‘’merit acquired by the nation” in the fields of arts, literature, economy and other services.
Einaudi has composed many scores for films as well as trailers; some of the prominent ones are: ‘This Is England’, ‘The Intouchables’ and ‘I’m Still Here’. He has won the Grolla d’oro, one of the most ancient film awards in Italy, for best soundtrack in year 1996 for ‘Acquario’. Along with this, he has given music to TV series like ‘Doctor Zhivago’. He has also come up with a number of notable solo albums of piano and orchestra, such as ‘I Giorni’ in 2001, ‘Nightbook’ in 2009, and ‘In a Time Lapse’ in 2013. His latest studio album, ‘Elements’, was released in October 2015.
